You may not be the only person working on any given file at any particular time. Hopefully the occasion will arise where you need to Freshen up your working source so as to be fully up to date. (In fact some manuals recommend this as a matter of course after every commit you do) The recommended practice is to backup /archive your existing source and then update your working source.
To update your working copy to be in sync with the CVS repository use:
cvs -z3 update -Pd |
