CVS Quickstart: A Short guide to using CVS on a networked system | ||

<<< Previous | Next >>> |
CVS must be one of the best of many "Good Things" to happen to Free Software and Open Source Development. Time spent grasping it's basics will pay itself back many times over. This document does not aim to replace the various excellent manuals available for CVS. Rather it is an attempt at a quick guide for Developers who are working in a networked based environment like sourceforge. The aim is to get you up and happening and doing what you do best rather than learning a new tool ( albeit a powerful and useful one) . As you grow used to working with CVS I'm sure you will find better methods and approaches than those outlined here.
To that end this document is organized in 3 broad sections: Configuration ( read the Section called Setting Up a SourceForge Account in the chapter called Anonymous Access) , Examples of use ( read the Section called Introduction in the chapter called A working session), and Reference Material ( everything else ). Well that was the intent when I started. :)
[As it is said in the LUG's .. "hope this helps"..].
